Uniquely Ontario: Accelerating Growth for Canadian Businesses

We’re all about Ontario. As a finance company with deep roots across all of Canada, the Ontario province continues to hold significance for Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada. With our long history in Canadian equipment finance, we’ve established a firm foundation in Ontario as our base operations for operations throughout western Canada.

Full service, in and from Burlington

Ontario is a hub for commercial activity. For us, our Burlington office houses nearly 100 employees who perform every finance function: sales, account management, legal, compliance, customer service, credit collections and funding. We take our responsibility to our customers in Ontario seriously and have prioritized a full staff to ensure that our customers’ financing needs are handled quickly, efficiently and in Ontario.

Our business is grounded not in doing transactions, but in working with customers to help them reach their goals. That means being on the ground to learn how they conduct business, understand their business models and get to know the people they work with and serve. Some of our account managers work in such partnership with their customers that they even have offices at their customers’ sites.

Industry presence

While we work with all types and sizes of companies across many industry sectors, we’re probably best known for our work in transportation…and with good reason.

We finance standard freight haulers, tow trucks and more: trailers, steel containers, school busses, trams, motor coaches, final-mile delivery vehicles, work trucks and more. We create a variety of financing programs ranging from inventory financing for a small shipping business in Nunavet to a FMV lease program for a global OEM in Toronto.

And while we may have our roots in transportation, we’re so much more. Our customers can be found in the aviation, construction, IT, manufacturing, distribution, staffing, clean technology sector and more.

Meeting companies where they’re at

When our business was founded in 1979 in Quebec, we primarily served smaller customers. The experience taught us valuable lessons in credit decisioning that continue to serve us well across many different lines of businesses. And today, we do indeed work with all kinds of businesses: small, large and everything in between. Our blended approach means we serve a broader cross-section than many other commercial finance lenders in Ontario.

Along with dealers and OEMs, we work with brokers and other third-party agents. We work on the for-hire side and the private carrier side. We even have a guarantee program with our partners where we work together to make sure we can provide funding to some start-ups and other businesses that may not qualify for financing through conventional qualification criteria.

The companies we work with are more than their credit profiles. They are business owners and partners with whom we seek to develop relationships with for the long haul. We don’t just say “we’re there for you.” From the economic cycles inherent in the transportation industry to the pandemic, we’ve been there to help customers get to the other side of whatever challenge is in front of them, positioned strongly for growth.

Ontario’s clean future

Businesses throughout Canada are increasingly focused on conservation, fuel alternatives and bioenergy projects to meet environmental, stakeholder, and efficiency goals. Many are working toward aggressive net-zero goals, with energy efficiency and energy resiliency at the forefront. To support these efforts, Mitsubishi HC Capital Canada has developed a dedicated Sustainable Development Group (SDG) with its cross-border parent Mitsubishi HC Capital America.

Already recognized as a leader in clean-technology financing, the SDG group creates tailored financing solutions, including project financing and as-a-service financing. Right now, there is a massive need for multi-discipline experts to help companies in the transportation industry modify, create and implement business models that will support electrification of fleets. Our Ontario SDG group maintains expertise in every aspect of electrification, and in financing every component, from charging infrastructure to project development and management.

Cross-border collaboration

While we’ve been in Ontario since 2008, we’ve been in Canada since 1979. With headquarters in Quebec, we have tremendous expertise and experience in the legal codes, regulations, documentation and language across provinces. Seamless, daily and close interaction with our parent company in the United States, Mitsubishi HC Capital America, lets us offer a truly combined, multi-national approach and skillset in every facet of our business.
